Hampshire and Isle of Wight NHS community and mental health Trusts join forces to co-host Annual Meetings

Solent NHS Trust and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust are inviting residents from across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to attend their co-hosted Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Annual Members’ Meeting (AMM) 2024 next month.

Solent’s AGM and Southern Health’s AMM will be held on Tuesday 24 September from 4 to 7pm at the Salvation Army Hall in Hedge End near Southampton as well as being live streamed online.

The Annual Meeting offers people across Hampshire the chance to hear about the Trusts’ latest developments, exciting projects as well as key challenges, and hear from patients and staff about their experiences.

There will also be the opportunity to learn more about plans to create a new, combined NHS Foundation Trust, to be named Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, to deliver community, mental health and learning disability services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Lynne Hunt, Chair, Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, says: “I welcome anyone to attend and look forward to sharing the evening with as many of you as possible.  It is a great opportunity to find out what we have been doing the last year and a particularly exciting time for healthcare with the creation of the new Trust to cover all of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.  I always enjoy hearing from our staff and patients about the work we are doing to make a difference to their lives, so this year’s presentations really do tell those stories”.

Mike Watts, Chair of Solent NHS Trust, said: “Co-hosting our AGM with the AMM marks an important stage in this exciting time of transition towards the new trust. It is an ideal opportunity for those who currently use the services of Solent and Southern Health to hear firsthand the benefits that will be realised in the new organisation, as well as wider Hampshire and Isle of Wight residents who will access our services in the coming years. I very much welcome feedback from those who join us, as everyone’s contribution to where we can go in terms of delivering high quality healthcare is incredibly valuable.”

Ron Shields, Acting Chief Executive of Solent and Chief Executive of Southern Health, said: “We are really excited to be hosting our annual meetings to showcase the achievements of, and learnings from, both organisations during the 2023-24 year.

“As we continue to work towards becoming Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, staff across both organisations are working incredibly closely to best align ways of working to deliver the very best care for our communities.

“We look forward to hearing from local residents about the issues on their mind and answer any questions they may have on our community, mental health, learning disability and specialist services.”

People are welcome to attend the event at the Salvation Army Hall on Whites Way, Hedge End, SO30 2GL, or join the event online.

Attendees need to pre-register their place, via www.southernhealth.nhs.uk/amm2024.
